Ministers v clear they don't want to give any hints about how and when restrictions might ease, and have set out 5 (pretty generic) tests that have to be met before there is a change but...
1. Worth noting Raab mentioned again the PM's original time ref of 'turning the tide' in 12 weeks, which he said in the middle of March
2. It's clear govt is considering a nuanced next phase, where restrictions might ease up on some sectors of the economy or some groups
3. So because the message to public will be more complex than 'Stay at Home' - ministers are very nervous about saying anything public about what the route out of lockdown might actually look like
4. More importantly tho, no final decisions have been made, and the data that govt scientists will base their views on continues to evolve
5. But UK approach to spelling out possible timeframes is notably different to other countries - so May 7th will be next time govt has to give an official view of whether to renew or restrictions, lift them, or start to tweak them
6. One Cabinet minister says vital they are 'neither offering false hope, nor being unduly pessimistic' - also interesting tho Sturgeon said earlier today she hoped to share more of HOW the decisions would be taken next week - dynamics of devolution really interesting here
