Question tonight is whether this was deliberate strategy to make Javid resign or whether No 10 genuinely thought rather lose his team than lose his job - as reported earlier, No 10 was hopeful he would take the deal
Now sources suggest that after the conversation btw Johnson and Javid when he said he wouldn't stay, a series of other figures from No 10 lobbied him to change his mind but he still refused
It didn't come all completely out of the blue, as per @PaulGoodmanCH not so long ago, the idea was around that he'd be asked to sacrifice his team to stay, and Javid had discussed what he would do if it happened

A Boris Johnson government would be the most right wing government in our history, far surpassing Thatcher’s governments. His cabinet is full of libertarians and Conservative nationalists. The idea that they are One Nation Tories is nonsense and laughable
The underlying ideology of Johnson and his ERG colleagues is fundamentally Thatcherite in nature. They believe in deregulated free market economics, low taxes, a small state, and erosion of workers rights. All this will be facilitated by a hard #Brexit or no deal Brexit

I’ve not tweeted much whilst being on holiday for the last week, but with a long delay for our flight back worth taking you through my experience last Sunday. Might be a very long thread.

2am finally make it to bed after finishing the last bit of work that was preying on my mind, and also last minute holiday preparations.
3.44am my wife taps me to ask when he alarm was due to go off
3.45am seconds later the alarm rings (how does she do that??!)
4.40am set off, 10 mins behind schedule, but that’s ok, there’s contingency built in.
6am walk to the departure desks at Mcr T1 after parking the car. The longest queue I’ve ever seen for EasyJet baggage (we’ve already checked in online).

5th July 2018 will be the 70th birthday of our beloved #NHS.

This THREAD argues that it is in severe danger under this #Toryshambles government, with #Brexit posing an imminent & particularly invidious threat.

To #SaveOurNHS we must work tirelessly together to #StopBrexit.
1/ Today's devolved #NHS is a complex federation of tens of 000s of orgs employing some 1.7m workers. It's combined annual budget is just shy of £150bn. It handles, overwhelmingly successfully, almost a million patients daily.

With each box maybe 000s of orgs, & England only:
2/ Unresolved public health issues & a fast-expanding multi-morbid elderly population, coupled with chronic underfunding & the blowback from the butchery of social care since 2010 means the #NHS is pressured as never before.
