For the past year, ProPublica has reported on the elite consultancy McKinsey & Co. (propublica.org/series/mckinse…), and lately, sources have raised questions about the firm's response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Can you help us figure out what's going on?
Here's some of what we've heard:

In March, as governments advised against travel and froze large parts of the economy, McKinsey consultants flew around the country to pitch their high-priced services to state officials scrambling to respond to the pandemic.
Several states, including NY, hired McKinsey to assist their pandemic responses. So too the federal government, notably the VA and Jared Kushner. Sources have urged us to look at how the firm won these contracts—in particular how consultants portrayed its public-health expertise.
Do you know anything about McKinsey's work on government responses to the coronavirus pandemic?

If so, please contact Ian MacDougall. You can reach him confidentially on Signal or WhatsApp: 202-714-3777. Or over email: imm2122@columbia.edu
