Dear ⁦@RuthMarcus⁩:

Tara Reade’s workplace (in Senate) *rape* allegation against then-⁦@senjudiciary⁩ Chairman @JoeBiden is much more relevant, serious, specific & credible than Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations against a then-high schooler. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/…
Even if we disagree about the relative strengths and weaknesses of Tara Reade’s and Christine Blasey Ford’s sexual-assault allegations, why did it take *weeks* for the @washingtonpost & you to write 1 word about Reade — after *immediately* writing pages (even a book!) about Ford?
In assessing Tara Reade’s credibility, you criticize Reade’s “shifting account.”

But what about Christine Blasey Ford’s “shifting account”?

And, @RuthMarcus, much of your analysis is based on the fact that you do not believe that Christine Blasey Ford had an “ideological” or “political” motivation.

But @DebraKatzKMB, Ford’s attorney, let the “cat out of the bag” last September:

You seem to try to discredit Reade’s brother’s corroborating evidence, writing “it was only several days after providing this account to The Post that the brother reached out to add that he remembered her saying Biden had reached ‘under her clothes.’”

Yet . . .
Christine Blasey Ford had no corroborating evidence.

The 3 people who Ford said would corroborate her story (Mark Judge, PJ Smyth & lifelong friend Leland Keyser) didn’t.

Keyser told the FBI that she felt pressured by allies of Ford to change her story.

You seem to criticize Tara Reade’s brother (a corroborating witness) for a later-remembered key detail.

Yet Christine Blasey Ford’s own memory was shaky and her own story shifted:

You wrote: “Reade says she told a therapist about the alleged assault more recently, but — unlike Ford — declined to make the notes of that conversation available to reporters.”

Christine Blasey Ford refused to provide any therapy notes to investigators.

You criticized both the @senjudiciary & @FBI for a “flawed, rushed investigation” & “the limited sham that was designed less to unearth the truth than to secure the necessary 50 votes to get him confirmed.”

Setting aside your hysterics, let’s talk about the investigations . . .
40+ members of then-@senjudiciary Chairman @ChuckGrassley’s staff immediately began investigating all 6 decades-old claims. We interviewed 45 individuals, took 25 statements, and took sworn testimony from both Christine Blasey Ford and Brett Kavanaugh. We worked around the clock.
The FBI interviewed 10 people, in addition to the 150 people in the prior 6 FBI full-field, single-scope background investigations on Kavanaugh.

All senators were able to review that supplemental report.

There was no corroboration for any of the 6 claims against Kavanaugh.
.@ChuckGrassley issued 3 reports on Ford’s & 5 others’ allegations against Kavanaugh:

There was no corroboration for any of the 6 claims against Kavanaugh.
It’s rich, @RuthMarcus, that you’re criticizing our diligent, around-the-clock, comprehensive investigations of Kavanaugh—where we chased down every lead on 6 allegations—after the @washingtonpost & you did *nothing* for weeks on Tara Reade’s *rape* allegation against @JoeBiden.
And @RuthMarcus, don’t even get me started on the immediate and breathless coverage by @washingtonpost on the laughable serial-gang-rape claims peddled by @MichaelAvenatti and his clearly lyin’ client Julie Swetnick:

Yet, silence for weeks on Tara Reade?
Then-Judge Kavanaugh — on numerous occasions — fully cooperated with, and immediately answered any and all questions from, Senate investigators, the FBI, and senators.

@JoeBiden has been silent and will not make public his relevant Senate records.

Why?
