Patience is key!

Some days, you look at your spouse and wish that you were never married to him/her. Some times, this happens after a little spat or minor disagreement in which a party sees the other as disrespectful, recalcitrant, arrogant, cantankerous and garrulous.
Like one of my mentors said, not everyone of us is lucky to marry a spouse without an ex. Similarly, not everyone is lucky to marry his/her crush. Some of us end up marrying a random spouse because we couldn't get who we wanted. Sometimes in our fantasies,
we still reminisce the sweet old times/dream of being with our imaginary crush.

One of the webs of Shaytaan with which he catches his victims is to fill his/her heart with regret whenever he/she has quarrels with his/her spouse. So, in the ensuing discord,
he/she develops hatred, disdain and contempt for his/her partner. If not properly managed, minor disagreements may snowball into irredeemable discord and ultimately divorce.

As husbands, we have enormous responsibilities on our shoulders to love, protect & respect our spouses,
albeit unconditionally. Allaah says:

“…And consort with them in kindness, for if you dislike them, it may be that you dislike something in which Allah has placed much good.” Q. 4:19

The Messenger of Allaah, ﷺ said:

“Let a believing man not dislike a believing woman.
If something in her is displeasing to him, another trait may be pleasing.”

In his "Al-Halāl wa al-Harām", Dr. Yusuf Al-Qaradāwī comments on the above Hadīth, saying:

"A husband must be patient with his wife if he sees something in her that he disapproves
and dislikes. He should recognize that he is dealing with a human being with natural imperfections, and he should balance her good qualities with her failings."

Respect your marriage!

Patience is key!!!
