“I think I have, dear father” said the young man, “but I am still confused about one thing. How can this entire Universe come out of the attributeless, Supreme Brahman?”

The Rishi said, “Go to that majestic banyan tree and pick up a seed. Then come to me and follow instructions.”
“I shall do that”, said the young man.

So the young man went to the banyan tree, picked up a seed and came back.
“Peel the skin”, said the Rishi.
He peeled the skin.
“Now what do you see?”
“The kernel, Sire”
The father said, “Break the outer cover of the kernel, and what do you see?”

“Now what do you see?”
“The kernel, Sire”
The father said, “Break the outer cover of the kernel, and what do you see?”

“I see the tiny black seeds, sire.”
The Rishi said, “Now take one of the seeds and break it open. What do you see?”

“I see nothing father.”
Said the Rishi, “It is from that nothing that this entire banyan tree has come forth, my son. That ‘Shunya’ is not nothing but the great no-thing, from which this whole world has come forth.”

“When the mind is clean and empty, one touches that which seems to be nothing but is the great fullness called ‘Purna’, the origin of everything.
That is the Truth, my son.”
