@asymmetricinfo Many are suggesting that the means to control Covid-19 is a vaccine. Vaccines are predicated on the development of antibodies that can counter a virus. Therein lay the problem in relying on a vaccine.
We do not know that antibodies are protective against Covid-19.

Fact: The coronavirus may go dormant, ie, the antibodies may develop, but they do not eliminate the virus (wsj.com/articles/south… and npr.org/sections/coron…)
Fact: Younger patients, thought to be at lower risk for severe disease (and lower risk for clinical disease), have lower levels of antibodies than older patients (thehindu.com/sci-tech/scien…). That doesn't fit with the idea that antibodies are protective.
Fact: Some patients who recover from the infection don't appear to have any antibodies (businessinsider.com/study-recovere…).
All of which lead me to ask the question: How much do we really know about Covid-19 and antibodies? It seems from the above that we may not in fact know enough to assume that a vaccine may not be all that helpful in dealing with the virus.
A reminder: We are almost four decades into AIDS and we still don't have a vaccine. We know the structure of the virus. We know of drug regimens to control the virus (those took 17+ years to find). But vaccines? Nada.

We need a Plan B. Is anyone talking about Plan B?
