No. 2

We are NOT playing here. Ethics is serious business, particularly when dealing with someone who is clearly Ethics-free. : (

No. 3 Just a bit more throwback to last week's saunter.

No. 4 OKAY! If by chance you have NOT read up on Week One, here is the "unroll" request. There seems to be a tech problem right now at ThreadReader, but everything is here.

No. 5

OKAY, I am assuming you all are up on Week One. If not, what are you reading Tweet 5?? GO BACK, ya Jamoke!

Ta to the amazing "New Lifetime Reading Plan" (4th ed) by Clifton Fadiman and John S. Major. I have some "reading recommendations" if you care to delve further
The Last Days of Socrates (including Euthyphro, Apology, Crito, Phaedo) translated by Hugh Tredennick (Penguin).

From YouTube Athens 399 BC - Friends of Socrates discuss his death by execution.
One more: "There is always a Ted Talk."

No. 8: OK, moving on from Socrates, I am going to just do a little grazing among some recent tweets on ethics odds and ends.
This is something I want to dig into! Hope these white papers are available for free.

OK, one item I want to open up to folks who are reading along here. A former Trump White House factotum violated the boundary of the Surgeon General of Florida DURING a briefing, TOUCHED him on the shoulder, and kicked him out of a briefing. Hang on for more. a.
OK, here is the video, the violation of the "six foot social distancing" guidelines, and the physical touch.

BOOOO!

Some additional context from journalist Kevin Cate:

Correction: Additional info from Lawrence Mower.
Spokeswoman for the Governor of Florida followed up a Surgeon General's call for "protective distancing" by

* Approaching him way past the 6 foot social distancing guideline.
* Placing her face close to the side of his head, and literally "breathing" on him, DURING a pandemic.
What interests are at stake here?
Where do we come down when medical recommendations
for safety butt up against economic concerns?

Per comments from this article, opinions differ... strongly.
On a broader note, given our for-profit healthcare system, don't economic interests ALREADY how we are tended to, both on a preventative basis, and during an acute episode of illness, or accident?
Will come back to this next week, but wanted to point out this situation for you to carefully read up on and think about. We can talk MORE NEXT WEEK!
LAST TOPIC. CALLING ALL ETHICS SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS.

Do you have any suggestions for building a SYLLABUE for the next 24 weeks. I had in mind veering off at some point into TWO levels, the layperson Sunday ethics chat, and a more technical salon, say on WEDNESDAYS. 1/2
The Wednesday night chat would be more hard core @OfficeGovEthics issues, for those with experience in the federal government or private sector who want to dig deeper into this area, looking forward to, hopefully, a RESTORATION of ethical practice in new Administration. 2/3
Example of a job opening in this area:

"Syllabus"

'Syllabue' sounds like some kind of warm drink Samuel Johnson and Boswell would have imbided in during cold, damp, London winters! : )
