Some very good news: Tomorrow NYC will begin offering hotel rooms to those with mild/moderate covid who need to be able to isolate from their families.

This is especially important in low-income communities where crowded apartments have been driving the spread of the virus.
For now those who need to isolate will go through their medical provider who will make the referral.

This is for those who are not sick enough to need hospitalization. But there will still be some limited medical staffing at the hotels.
This is an entirely *voluntary* program. This is not a forced quarantine. Patients will not be forced to remain in the hotels. Though they will not be able to receive visitors for obvious reasons.
This is first and foremost a public health imperative. But there is an economic benefit too: this will help to keep alive some hotels that might have otherwise gone under. We need these businesses intact for when tourism starts to resume--they are a huge source good jobs.
