Coronavirus and social distancing has forced all of us to look loneliness in the eye. Tackling it has never been more important. So we’re launching a new plan to help ensure no one needs to feel lonely in the weeks ahead:
Our #LetsTalkLoneliness campaign is designed to get everyone talking openly about the issue and the role we all have to play in being kind and looking out for each other.
We’re boosting our brilliant loneliness charities with £5m of new funding and will ensure that small organisations doing this work in their communities are a priority when we distribute the £750m of support for charities we announced earlier this month.
We’ll also link loneliness charities to our fantastic #NHSVolunteerResponders, so that they can help support isolated people in their communities.
With everyone’s hard work we’ve continued to keep the virus under control so we can now allow more leisure, sport and cultural activities to reopen safely
