RAMADAN FAST AMID COVID-19

1. In the Name Of Allah the Most Gracious Most Merciful I begin this Short admonition, which I pray for its utmost goal to be gotten

It audible to the deaf and visible to the blind that Fasting in the Month of Ramadan is One of the 5 pillars of islam
2. Allah the Almighty has ordained Fasting on every MATURED and CAPABLE MUSLIM who witnessed the month of RAMADAN.

It has written upon us same way it was written upon the nations before us perhaps we might attain piety, and wake up from slumber on the loopholes we are faced with
3. The Fasting is here for countable and known days, and fasting must be done in those days which is the month of Ramadan. Any other fast outside the sacred month of Ramadan is a voluntary or payback fast.

Worth mentioning is the fact that the ill muslim is excused temporarily
4. They are excused from fasting during the month should he/she fall sick either prior to or while the fasting is going on. Once your health status is not ascertained and you might be putting yourself into danger by fasting, Islam wants you to postpone your fasting to another day
5. Also in this category of the excused are the wayfarers/travelers who might find it difficult to fast while on Journey.
Note; its not haram to fast while travelling, but its best you don't fast while you making a long journey

The sick and the traveler are excused from fasting
6. simply because Allah chooses EASINESS for us and doesn't want HARDSHIP for us

See Q2 Vs 183 - 185 to excerpt of the Holy Qur'an where the Above is contained

Secondly, The Prophet SAW has enjoin us to start fast when the crescent is cited and we end fast when it is also cited
7. And again, we should never forget that every action is done according to intention, as such we have to make a sincere intention towards fasting the month of RAMADAN

Scholars have made a lot of comments about intention which there is no need spuring up debate about it.
8. The outcome of their comments is not far from:
1. You must make intention before Taking your Ramadan Fast
2. That you either make a single intention of fasting the whole month or make an intention before every fast , for those making intention for the fast of the day
9. 3. That station of intention is the heart but there is no problem if you pronounce it loudly to your hearing, and those that goes against pronouncing to your hearing further emphasis that your lips must be shaking while pronouncing from your heart bringing us back again to
10. to outward pronounciation.

Further more, taking your SAHUR (Food taking to mark the start of a fast) is not compulsory but its necessary and Sunnah, there is a lot of Blessings in it as stated by the prophet SAW. I am saying this to those who might wake up late
11. and could not take their sahur before the fijr comes out, in that case, your intention has suffice, you are adviced to carry on with fast without eating, only that you miss the blessings of Sahur and the food you should have wedge your stomach with for the Fasting period
12. Then the Iftar, Once its time for iftar which is known, its Sunnah to take some dates or fruits before taking Food and drink.
Medical Research has shown that Date/Debino is one of the best substance the body needs if one has stayed for like 9 hours + without food
13. and while at it, you should as well try and remember to say the dua for breaking fast. Here it is incase you forgot it:

Zahabaz zama'u, wab tallatil Uruuqu, Wa thabatal Ajru in sha Allah.

Then pray for the World from this Covid-19 Pandemic
14. Note: The SAHUR is best delayed while the Iftar is best hasten up.

The wisdom behind it is to help your system contain the hunger by saving some minutes of hunger from it.

Never stop taking your Sahur simply because salat is called, continue and finish your food bt sharply
15. Let it be known that FASTING is not just abstaining from taking any substance and sex alone. Fasting is also the act for purifying the soul, and washing the heart off dirts and immoral thinking which translate in our daily activities.

Fasting is by abstaining from abuses
16. if you are a cyber bully type, physical abuser, father, mother and generations foul worder kindly note that your fast is questionable when you do it while fasting.

A lot of people gains only hunger and thirsty from their fast

Should one bully you tell them "I am fasting" x3
17. The prophet SAW has made it clear that, whoever doesn't refrain from falsehood and believing on it, that Allah has nothing to do with his/her fast

Lets be guided !!!
18. Finally, we are about to take on a kind of Fast we have never witness in our life. A fasting of no Tarawih in the Mosque, No general Iftar, No tafsir in the mosques and worst of All No 5 daily prayers in the mosque due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

I tell you its a blessing
19. its indeed a blessing in disguise, Don't look at it from the negative side of note having access to the above mentioned, but look at it from the positive side. If you do you will deduce from it the following:

1. That Covid-19 is a test from Allah to see our perseverance
20.
2. Our sins are too much and Ramadan offers a turning point
3. That Muslims are being tested to know who is truly worshiping because of Allah and not for show off
4. And This test will tell every individual whether they are truly submissive to Allah.
21. Taraweh are going to be observed at home, Do as you can, don't rush your Tarweeh, if you are the lazy type like myself reduce it to 8 rakaat the 3 rakaat for wutr.

if you are fit 10 rakaat for taraweeh, and 3 for wutr.

if you are energetic enough 20 for taraweeh 3 for wutr
22. Note: while praying your Taraweeh, you can decide to rest after praying half like 4 rakaat for the 8 type, and 6 for the 10, while 10 for the 20. If you do that you have meet the definition of taraweeh (Praying and taking a break)
23. as for wutr, you can pray 2 and offer your tasleem then pray 1 and end it, or you pray the 3 all together straight with one sitting (at the last rakaah) the offer your tasleem.

its all Sunnah.

Wutr is to pray odd numbers of Rakaah 1,3,5,7,9. But Sunnah of taraweeh has 3
24. Dear brother/sister, these are precious times, every minute counts, made a very good use of it, compete in good deeds of all kind to earn rewards.

This is not time for sleeping all day, neither is it for staying online all day.

Spend enough time chanting the zikr of Allah
25. seek for Allah's forgiveness and forgive and forget too.

In this Ramadan period in sha Allah we have some educative threads for you, and daily ahadiths as usual. And our DM is always open for necessary questions regarding the deen

May Allah accept our worships now and ever
26. may He uplift our status in His side, may we come out of this Ramadan as better muslims, may we come out with Covid-19 vaccine tested and trusted ramphant everywhere.

Don't forget me in your Prayers, I am your brother in the Deen

TASIU AL-FATIH ABDUL-KADIR
27. wa sallahu ala sayyidina Muhammad wa ala aalihi wa sahbihi wa sallam.

subhana rabika rabil izzati Amma yasifun wa salamun alal mursalin Wal Hamdulillahi Rabil Alameen
