Harvard makes over $500,000 annually from apparels, accessories, books, mugs etc. Nigerian Universities are busy drafting dress codes for adults and suspending students for flimsy reasons.

I visited Unilorin few years ago, paid my alumni dues and requested for a sticker..
There was none. How many universities in Nigeria have proper merch stores?

How many patent rights have they sold, how many inventions? How much do they earn in research grants? Alumni dues, community donations, endowments etc.
The University is a land of learning and opportunities. It is not a place where some archaic and grumpy individuals reign supreme.

I go through a lot to break certain issues down on Twitter, just to let some people understand that Governance and decision making isn't beer parlour gist.

The last time I checked, Nigeria had 32 accredited medical colleges. The list is available online with their quota.
Quota given to ensure that the schools aren't just conduits for half baked doctors. There is a minimum lecturer to student ratio in pre-clinicals and clinical study to create an effective learning environment.

Where am I heading to? Even if all our schools churn out 100 doctors
And everyone passes at the end of the day, The maximum number of doctors we can have annually is 3200.

If we manage to retain all of them in practice, we will add only 3200, it will take us 10 years to produce 30,000 doctors with this system.

Damn if you do, damn if you don't. The minimum wage by law must be reviewed every 5 years to meet up with the usual inflation / rise in cost of living.
The minimum wage was last revised in 2011. Since then we have had to devalue the currency, inflation rate moved btw 11% - 14%
The minimum wage wasn't reviewed for 8 years, of course workers were subjected to the harsh economic situation, spending power eroded especially in the middle class.

It is not the worker's fault that the FG has failed to augment the revenue profile to meet their demands.
Even well oil sold at over $100 per barrel. We couldn't meet pay the wages. The minimum wage was due for a review in 2016 but PMB held on till 2019 because of the recession. When PMB took over in 2015, several states had become bankrupt.

Bailouts were given to them.

The situation is extremely tough. Oil contributes over 70% of total govt revenue, 90% of export earning but a meagre 8% to our GDP. In clear terms, the govt will become bankrupt in terms of revenue. But the GDP figures offer a little bit of hope, hard choices will have to be made
Our revenue at the budget benchmark could barely pay salaries at N18,000. The govt needs to sit down with labour unions and let them know the reality. Our debt to revenue ratio will become worse, the govt cannot afford to borrow to keep the workforce. That will be suicidal...
This is the time to sit with labour unions, the legislature. The workforce must be trimmed, I will only keep revenue generating agencies and essential workforce with focus on Security, healthcare, Agric, education.

The constitution has to be temporarily amended.
