Letter from the Producer Live #58 begins in 30 minutes; expect details on Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.3: twitch.tv/finalfantasyxiv

The live letter is starting now! Yoshida and Foxclon are both in separate rooms due to the COVID-19 situation going on. They are expressing their care for everyone out there affected by it.

Yoshida reads a letter from a Warrior of Light who is someone working in the medical field combating COVID-19 and says that FFXIV is a second home for them with all the friends that they made in game and that the players give him the strength to keep fighting.

Yoshida expresses that he wants to thank this person as well as everyone in the medical field for combating this virus and that he hopes that people will be able to come back to the game to enjoy their time with their friends and to see that things will go back to normal one day.

Patch 5.3 as mentioned previously is slated to come out mid June due to the pandemic delaying things. Voice actors have recorded their lines from home. They also have the development team testing their updates from home to prevent bugs before they push their changes.

They've been slowly improving the remote development process by allowing the team to take home the PCs to allow them to better work from their homes. They're also trying to smooth over being able to get the up to date version of the server at home and back at the office in sync.

Another concern is that people in Japan don't have as much room, or they might not get enough electricity to get these PCs and set up the proper environment in many of these homes. They are working individually case by case to solve these issues.

One problem is testing the 24 man raid, it is difficult to try and test this properly. They expect delays to happen. The team will keep us updated when there's more to say. The staff are eager to get the patch out because of how much work they're putting into it.

Patch 5.3 - Reflections in Crystal

MSQ conclusion for the core Shadowbringers storyline. The Crystal Tower quest line is MANDATORY for 5.3

They have nerfed the quests quite a lot since it first came out, so it's a lot better.
