The vast majority of states are simultaneously extending social distancing dates, expanding PPE rules AND being creative with new orders, such as allowing golf, water activities, curb side pickup etc. That’s often good. We should be learning as we go. 2/
CEOs are pretty consistent. Major retailers in opening states are not doing so. In other words, again, you are seeing a much more science based calculation by locals, states and private sector mirrored by our own sense of vulnerability. #adaptiverecovery

I can’t explain how this is but it’s really great. In FL, public was way ahead of the Governor. It will be interesting to see just how much commercial activity there is in Georgia. If they build it, will people come? The answer may be no (or not yet) 4/

There are 16 critical infrastructure sectors. There is even a website and document (we did think of this before)

Trump doesn't need the DPA. That's just his way of saying he's taking charge or more likely hiding what is clearly going to be a document that protects negligent workers and harms sick employees. But food supply being a critical infrastructure is not news. Don't fall for it 2/2

Thread: "Opening up" is neither a singular policy nor a moment in time. As I've been reviewing "opening up" policies globally, it is clear we have a naming problem. It allows for these non-debates and silly editorials, as if there is a pro-isolation and anti-isolation crowd. 1/
So, let's be clear. . . We will open up lest anyone doubt that those of us pushing for stay-at-home orders were loving this. Nope, it buys us time. That time hopefully is working. Critics clamoring to open are acting like they are first to think that isolation is temporary. 2/
It is (say it again) the preparedness paradox, the tiresome refrain from those who say "look, it's not that bad (debatable), you folks all panicked, let's be free." That notion caricatures what social distancing was really about, creating camps where there are none. 3/

WH "Reopen" plan gets worse with age. And it was released a few hours ago. I don't often get pissed, but tonight I'm shocked that WH could think we would just skate over the testing fiasco. That reporters would. It's jarring but also our marching orders.
So, where is hope? 1/
I got it. You may have noticed I'm bracing for 2 years of really funky living. I suggest you do too. It won't be like this, of course, but we are really far from things being "normal" anytime soon. Many of us are luckier than those suffering real deprivation or loss 2/
The federal government has failed in the first instance (the "original sin" of testing) and now in not ramping up test capacity. But, there is progress by the states, partnerships such as here in MA with health industry, and I think Fauci is right that by late summer 3/
