There's no police force escort for parade marching so proud.
No poignant moving speeches or traditional sung hymn
No diggers telling stories of lost battle or lost limb
Proud waving unit banners for no gathered crowds to see.
No people walking the soil where so many lost their life
No sound of the drums beating or the playing of a fife
While frail and weary veterans add another year to old.
Some will spend all year waiting, just to march this very day
To honour all the lost mates who lifes price have had to pay.
Standing at end of driveway all together but alone.
Some will raise the flags up high, others let a candle glow
We stand there in remembrance and we let the tears flow.
Nation will rise together at the calling of the dawn.
And those who have the method will of course blast out last post
Fallen will march right past us in a silent spirit host.
Just 'cause we are not marching does not mean we be remiss.
A proud honoured tradition that we remember each year
Rejoin brothers and sisters here in arms over a beer.
The medals of my granddad also pinned to my right breast.
I'll remember all before me as I just cannot dismiss
Sacrifice they made allowed me to live my life like this.
Fly service flags so proudly though they may be at half-mast.
Remember too the serving who are still stuck overseas
Remind our fallen heroes that they now can rest at ease.
