Monty Bennett, a multimillionaire Trump donor and luxury hotel owner, is the top recipient of the emergency aid meant to help small businesses, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Bennett's three hotel and resort companies have secured $96.1 million in loans from the Paycheck Protection Program, the taxpayer effort to help small businesses keep workers on payroll amid the COVID-19 crisis.
Thousands of small businesses say they've been unable to obtain loans from the program. Bennett, whose 2019 compensation was $5,668,730, said in a statement that he will not be returning the funds.
