If you’re thinking of moving to Hollywood or Broadway or pursuing a creative dream at all, you need to stop and consider - when will you quit? What’s too far? What sacrifice are you not willing to make?

Now I’m not talking about moral or ethical considerations - you need to establish boundaries and stick to them. I’m saying ask yourself what is more important than following my dream? Having a house? A steady paycheck? Long term relationships? A “normal” life?

Being able to prove your worth to your family? Friends? At your high school reunion? At your 30th high school reunion? What’s the tipping point where you surrender this quest? It’s okay to have one - as long as you recognize and acknowledge it.

Do NOT set this borderline effortlessly, and without careful consideration.

Once you know where that outer edge is, that step into the unknown, past which you won’t venture? You have to commit yourself that you will stand firm. You won’t turn back. You will step to that line in the sand without hesitation.

It doesn’t matter what your family says. What your friends say. What emotions you feel. How much ridicule and doubt and fear you or anyone else expresses.

Anything short of that line - is still the road to your destiny. Hard times will come. You’ll want to quit. In your worst moments, you’ll desperately want to just be average. To stand down. To give up and walk away. But you can’t.

Anything less than coming right to the lip of that cliff... is depriving yourself, and more importantly, the world, of the gifts you have been blessed and burdened with to share.

You owe it to yourself, to whatever God you serve, to the very fabric of the universe — to do everything you are able - up to that point and no farther - to create and share that, which without you, would not exist.
