You see, it's headlines like this that required Trump to push guidelines of shelter in place and social distancing.

"The US coronavirus death toll surpasses American casualties from the Vietnam War" cnbc.com/2020/04/28/the…
If we had a real media instead of the fake media we have now, those considerations wouldn't be needed but imagine how long a leader could withstand these types of headlines while appearing to do nothing. It would have been Katrina times 100. Trump understood that.
Going against the "experts" and keeping everything open while battling against headlines from the propaganda wing of the Dem party(the fake media) would have been an unwinnable political battle.

Also Headlines like this would have brought the economy to a standstill anyhow.
However, now these types of headlines have little impact. Trump is seen as doing everything within his power (and doing it well), he can do to fight this virus and headlines like this just expose the fake media for the propagandists they are.
The economic impact of headlines like this are also now moot. It can't impact an economy that's already shutdown and people have began to remember that while the deaths are large that the economy is also important and without an economy many more problems will occur.
Events don't happen in a vacuum. Knowing how your enemy will act takes certain moves off the table and it also allows you to make moves they aren't expecting. I don't think there is a democrat leader that thought Trump will close the economy but he did.
