Entenda a diferença entre "Used to" e "To be used to"

A diferença do uso é grande, embora o estudante brasileiro ainda se confunda com essas duas expressões. Então vamos resolver essa questão?

Used to

Usamos “used to” para falarmos sobre hábitos passados. Coisas que costumávamos fazer, locais que costumávamos ir, etc:

- Nancy used to go to the beach with her family when she was a kid.
- Nancy costumava ir à praia com sua família quado era criança.
- I used to smoke, but now I have a healthy life.
- Eu fumava, mas agora eu tenho uma vid saudável.

Entendido? Agora vamos ver o outro caso!
To be used to

Já “to be used to” é para falarmos sobre atividades que estamos acostumados a fazer, ou que fazemos corriqueiramente. Perceba que após o to, o verbo precisa estar com o sufixo ing:
- Nancy is used to walking every morning.
- Nancy está acostumada a caminhar todas as manhãs.

Note que você pode traduzir tranquilamente como: “Nancy caminha todas as manhãs”. A ideia é a mesma.
- I’m used to waking up early.
- Estou acostumado a acordar cedo.
