Finally. The Score-Only version of #TheLastJedi!
Let's gooooooooo @rianjohnson
33 minutes in and I've already rolled a tear. This is so good!
This is giving me a whole new appreciation for film scoring, in so many different ways.
At times you can hear the orchestra because, well, that's the only thing you're hearing. It's a strange experience when there's no music at all. It makes you realise just how smooth the transitions are in the normal film - you never notice when the music isn't there.
And there is such a level of intimacy at times revealed through nothing but the visuals and the music. I can't quite describe it really.
Ahhhhahaha! Her little scream is on the score track! Dead.
There's just... so much that's "hidden" under the sound design and dialogue. It's not that that's a bad thing, it just makes this Score-Only version almost feel like an alternate version of the film. Wonderful little micro-discoveries. New accentuations.

#TheLastJedi
....gulp.

#TheLastJedi
Ohhhh boy, here we go.
To quote Ralph Fiennes: "...............Art."
In the regular film, there is a sight humming sound effect during this spectacular moment. Here though, complete and total silence.
God this film is gorgeous. Maybe I should do a thread about the cinematography...?
The first time I saw this shot I felt like a kid again, so excited I thought I might burst.

#TheLastJedi
The Rise of Skywalker
The evergreen aspect of the Score-Only version of #TheLastJedi is this staggering performance. The operatic genius of John Williams plus the emotion & weight of @HamillHimself acting are a match made in movie heaven. Still makes me well up. This is now my all time favourite film.
The film is so familiar to me at this point, I can practically hear the dialogue in my head even though it isn't audible. Likewise some of the sound effects, especially this beat. I can akmost hear Kylo's glove tightening and his saber crackling.
I really thought I was done getting emotionally overwhelmed by this scene. (It's always beautiful but the raw emotion has definitely dulled over time.) I almost felt as rattled and choked up as I did on opening day?! What is life.

#TheLastJedi
I did suspect I would struggle a little, patience wise, with watching a 2.5 hour film without dialogue. But it was quite like the experience of watching a great silent movie in some ways. Breezed by and always surprised me.
I crashed out before finishing this thread, ha! I still stand by the earlier statement, #TheLastJedi is now my favourite film. The Score-Only version was like watching the best silent film ever. Still thrilling, fun and tear-producingly moving. Thanks once again @rianjohnson!👊
