For an overblown government hoax, this sure is a fucking nightmare.
One of the biggest problems with America, and there are a lot of them to be sure, is that we somehow unlearned the reality that we can and will get sick or injured and die.
Turn living rooms back into home funeral parlors if that’s what it takes (the “living” name isn’t a coincidence, it’s a cultural response), but Americans really need to stop spending 75 years (if they’re lucky) navigating this planet like they’re god’s one exception to death.
When 50,000 Americans are dead and your relatives are saying that it’s no big deal, you should be looking at them like they just said 9/11 never happened.
Sorry, *at least 60,000. nytimes.com/interactive/20…
There’s no National Memorial for Spanish Flu, which took more lives than all of America’s wars combined, possibly because there wasn’t a foreign enemy we could shoot.
When this is over — and we won’t, because we’re morons — we need to commemorate the heroes who risked and sacrificed their lives to save strangers and the craven, villainous, political human failures who made it exponentially more deadly.
“THIS LOCKDOWN IS RUINING PEOPLE’S LIVES!”

Yes.

“BUSINESSES ARE CLOSING!”

Correct.

“KIDS CAN’T PLAY OUTSIDE!”

Hi sorry to interrupt — did you think plagues were good up until this point? Did you think, say, World War 2 was on purpose so we could make future Tom Hanks movies?
I don’t think Pearl Harbor had a Denny’s but I’m guessing it would’ve been closed through at least New Years.
