Today in legal arguments you shouldn't try at home: Joe Arpaio is asking a federal judge to reinstate a libel lawsuit on the grounds that the judge is an idiot.
Arpaio's lawyer also accuses the judge of having made a "politicized decision." Surely this will persuade Judge Lamberth to take a closer look at his decision on the, uhh, highly politicized issue of, uhh, res judicata.
This seems like a more insulting version of "I thought you were cool, man," but captioned as a legal motion.

Poking a judge thusly is usually a bad idea. But it seems like an especially precarious thing to do at a time when you're waiting to find out what's going to happen with the local bar's recommendation that you be suspended for 33 months for another thing, as Arpaio's lawyer is.
Update: This was not a winning strategy.
