For a long time businessmen, politicians and voting publics could ignore and restrain geopolitical conflicts in the afterglow of consumer prosperity. Now with travel gone, trade down and actual starvation rearing its head the restraints are gone.
The CCP's only chance to survive in its present form is a rapid return of global prosperity that will restore the pre-2020 world. A prolonged downturn will create internal Chinese unrest, regional resistance to its expansion and rising if not runaway nationalism.
