C17 963, a Walkers C17.
The last 40 engines, 961 to 1000, were fitted with Timken roller bearings and painted brown. They acquired the nickname of 'Brown Bombers' after American boxer Joe Louis. After major overhaul some repainted black.

8D11 (0-4-4-0) Fairlie Patent Double Bogie tank locomotive
1 only imported 1876. Named ' Governor Cairns '.
In 1882 renumbered as #41.

Locomotive was trialled on the main range. Not really suitable but was based at Ipswich and ran goods trains between Ipswich and South Brisbane until sold in 1902. Image
1867, James Cross and Company of St Helens, England, delivered three 1,067 mm (3 ft 6 in) 0-6-6-0 double boilered locomotives as knocked down kits to the North Ipswich Workshops.
One was assembled, trialled and it spread the rails. They were rejected.
