8D11 (0-4-4-0) Fairlie Patent Double Bogie tank locomotive
1 only imported 1876. Named ' Governor Cairns '.
In 1882 renumbered as #41.

As fitted with the ' Governor Cairns ' nameplates.
Locomotive was trialled on the main range. Not really suitable but was based at Ipswich and ran goods trains between Ipswich and South Brisbane until sold in 1902.
1867, James Cross and Company of St Helens, England, delivered three 1,067 mm (3 ft 6 in) 0-6-6-0 double boilered locomotives as knocked down kits to the North Ipswich Workshops.
One was assembled, trialled and it spread the rails. They were rejected.
