this article shows with the FDA Gilead thru when they sent Remdesevir to China. Last night Trump & FDA approved of emergency use of it in the US In under 9 hours. Please remember one of his key advisers used to lobby for Gilead.

& I like the section looking forward for Gilead… Saying they needed to retain patent protections. When Trump gave them the orphan status that they turned back... they retained the 20 year remdesevir patents in 70 countries. That they desperately needed.

Gilly it is also known for price gouging and question of policing... they were even called out by Doctors Without Borders in India for excluding refugees and migrants. And even Donald Rumsfeld is on their board.

Left part of this out. One of Trump’s top advisors, Joe Grogan...he’s was a lobbyist for Gilead until he was hired by Trump’s administration. He 1st worked under Mick Mulvaney at OMB (during Ukraine scandal) & now he’s on the Coronavirus Task Force. Yeah....

It’s also worth nothing he is Director of Domestic Policy Council. Had to read up on that. It Struck me when I got to the ”council forms part of the White House Policy... which contains Office of National AIDS policy”. It wasn’t long ago...

Trump was bragging about securing the historic donation of Truvada from ......Gilead Pharmaceuticals. To drugs that helped push the pharmaceutical company forward happen to be Truvada and Remdesivir.

That Truvada was donated in May,2019... days before a congressional hearing over basically whether CDC or Gilead has rights to the Truvada PReP. Trump sued Gilead November 2019. Scientists say it may just drive the price down

So it looks like Gilead donated that historical amount of Truvada to sway to congressional hearing... apparently failed. But the CDC has no real footing according to the article. So it’s either Trump trying to make money or lower the drug price

I seriously doubt he’s trying to be a humanitarian and lower the price. My best guess would be trump trying to profit off of it. I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes out that he has stock in Gilead. He has itbin the HCQ & chloroquine makes.

Just saw this brilliant reporting by Mother Jones. It’s about warped incentives in pharmaceutical development. It tells of the horrors Gilead let go on while they sat on Truvada print well they sat on Truvada PReP.

They could do the same with Remdesivir. The only reason Gilead seems prepared with this because it was originally Developed during the Ebola crisis. Research is expensive. Big Pharma wants to make the money back.

Right now looks like the only way Truvada PReP price may come down is the Trump admin. lawsuit. Since Truvada PReP differs from Truvada... they still have the patent & control. Just like they do with Remdesivir. Alex Azar already gave a warning

Never forget Alex Azar (head of HHS) used to be president of the Eli Lilly pharmaceuticals. He‘d know. And in February in his own words he never promised it would be affordable for all.

Now I probably won’t sleep knowing what Gilead did to the poor & refugees in India. Knowing how they sat on Truvada PReP for a better profit as people died. And that they could do the same damn thing for Remdisivir.

What’s sad is my only consolation is that Chinese studies show that doesn’t really help. It’s not a cure. It’s sad that’s a consolation. Did it only gets people out of the hospital a few days quicker
