Our first month on @a_bit_lit maybe has almost something for almost everyone?

First up, lots of things: @ProfCatherineR (10), @callanjd (19), @earlymodatLancs and @Tostig1066 (11) on stuff, things, surfaces and material culture

And then, #raceb4race and #ShakeRace: @sydneeisanelf (14), @bkadams (5) and @s_e_omalley (18) on race, colonialism and marginalisation.
Queer poetry and trans or non-binary gender are brought by @will_tosh (16) and @mollfrith (15), both of them in very different ways asking about the crossovers between practice and scholarship, theatre and other kinds of performance.

We’ve just begun a series of films on wrestling and performance. @wrestlekafka (film 23) and @TheOJMO (25) tell us about gender, acrobatics and audiences in wrestling.

Gender, sex and history are key parts for @noraj_williams (film 26), @GoingMedieval (7) and @sixteenthCgirl (4), working across Shakespeare, C14th Europe and the C16th English courts and a French urban community.

We’ve just had a week themed around @Edwards_Boys, with their director Perry Mills (film 24), actor @GeorgeEllingham (27), scholarly collaborator @harrymccarthy (29) and then the boys themselves (30) talking about their work.

In a set of films, John Wyver of @Illuminations (film 21) and @PascaleExeter (20) discuss theatre technology, screen broadcasts and the history of early TV.

In three very different pieces, @RebeccaRideal (film 9), @MathewJLyons (12) and @travisclau (6) nevertheless all touch on the importance of creative collaboration, communication and communities of support, which is What I Need to Hear Right Now Dot Com.

And then on Emma Whipday Days, which occur on what I used to think of as Thursdays, endless nuggets of wisdomination (films 8, 13, 17, 22, 28). Next week is the last Emma Whipday Day, so the apocalypse truly is upon us.

Finally, I don’t quite know what value these films have anymore, but it all started a month ago with an invitation & a conversation with @EmmaWhipday and @callanjd about what it would mean to try to create a space for ‘hope-making activities’ (1&2). Wow.

‘Key parts’? Not quite sure what wording I was aiming for and missed here, but apologies @noraj_williams @GoingMedieval @sixteenthCgirl. 😳
