People rightly pointing out how clueless the Government’s concept of university learning is. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a strategy. Politics and the press are adding to a longterm, international trend to pressure voices challenging white supremacist ideas into silence. It’s striking how many of us are thinking aloud about our undergrad reading lists. Our real focus, I suspect, should be our research students: they are being strongly disincentived from joining urgent research conversations that might get you called out in the right wing press.
