The Boston Globe ran a piece claiming "homeschooled children were at greater risk for abuse than children attending regular schools."

That statement is not true.

This anti-homeschooling propaganda needs to be corrected @BostonGlobe.
From a 2018 review of this evidence:

"The limited evidence available shows that homeschooled children are abused at a lower rate than are those in the general public, and no evidence shows that the home educated are at any higher risk of abuse."

The @BostonGlobe article cites one study of 28 hand-picked cases of abuse

But there is no way that study supports the claim that "homeschooled children were at greater risk for abuse than children attending regular schools."

This false statement needs a correction.
Here is the Boston Globe article with the statement that needs a correction:

Here is the study they cited.

28 hand-picked cases of abuse.

In no way can they responsibly say "homeschooled children were at greater risk for abuse than children attending regular schools."
The authors even admit the sample is "select and by no means" an "inclusive series of abuse cases."

These cases "cannot be considered a consecutive case series for statistical analysis."
The author of the Boston Globe article is Harvard Law School's Elizabeth Bartholet.

She explicitly calls for a presumptive BAN on homeschooling.

I just sent an email to the Boston Globe editor requesting a correction.

I will update once I get more information.
