The ASGs tended to derail on curves and points and firing was difficult due to heat from firebox. It was not long before they were declared a failure in Queensland.

G33 the only surviving ASG is now at Queenscliffe -Bellarine Railway,
The locomotive was transferred from its previous home of 45 years at the ARHS Railway Museum at Newport on 30-31 May 2013.

Suburban railways around Brisbane were not electric until late 1970s hence the range of locos.

20 built Walkers 1901/02 #363-382
1904/05 all were rebuilt as 4-6-4T due to tendency to derail as a 4-6-2T.

Two D16s (1935, 375 and 1939, 376) were modified to run with B15 tenders. Classified as B16D, used for freight.

In the 1920s more tank locos were flagged, the D17s.
