1) On July 29, 2016, Steele & Simpson met with Michael Sussmann of Perkins Coie, the firm representing the DNC

According to UK court docs, Sussmann told Steele of allegations re: potential communications between a server in Trump Tower and a server at Alpha Bank

2) Steele would include certain allegations regarding Alfa Bank, which he misspelled as “Alpha”, in a Sept. 14, 2016 dossier memo.

3) Sussmann would give the Alpha Bank allegations to former FBI General counsel James Baker on Sept. 19, 2016.

4) Baker came to understand The New York Times was also in possession of Sussmann’s information.

Other members of the media also had this same information.

5) From these same UK court docs, we also know that Steele met with Marc Elias of Perkins Coie on Sept 22, 2016.

Elias served as general counsel to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2016 and John Kerry’s presidential campaign in 2004.

6) The House Intelligence Committee’s March 2018 “Report on Russia Active Measures” would note on page 143 that Perkins Coie was aware of Steele’s contacts with the media.

7) Much has been made of the Sept 23, 2016 Isikoff article.

It was the first article to state that Carter Page was under investigation.

Steele was the source for Isikoff, although the FBI would state the opposite in its FISA application on Page.

8) But there was another Same-Day article - just after Isikoff's - that I found equally, or more interesting.

It not only discussed Page extensively but also appeared to highlight efforts by Fusion GPS to influence media reporting.

9) "As I started looking into Page, I began getting calls from two separate “corporate investigators” digging into what they claim are all kinds of shady connections Page has to all kinds of shady Russians."

10) "One is working on behalf of various unnamed Democratic donors; the other won’t say who turned him on to Page’s scent. Both claimed to me that the FBI was investigating Page for allegedly meeting with Igor Sechin and Sergei Ivanov."

11) Alfa Bank came up:

"the Rumors being handed me by the corporate investigators: that Russia’s Alfa Bank paid for the trip as a favor to the Kremlin; that Page met with Sechin and Ivanov in Moscow; that he is now being investigated by the FBI for those meetings"

12) Politico obviously had this story well before Isikoff's 9/23 one.

But CH team didn't get Steele memos until Sept 19.

They did open a FARA investigation of Page resulting in the transfer of the espionage investigation of Page from the New York field office to FBI HQ on 8/10.

13) We also know the FBI’s New York field office opened an early counterintelligence investigation of Carter Page all the way back on April 6, 2016.

This was well before the official transfer of the Page investigation to FBI HQ on Aug 8, 2016.

14) Worth asking is at what point did Steele or Simpson learn the FBI had opened an investigation into Page.

And who was it that told them.

It seems reasonably apparent that the FBI investigation of Page was known to Fusion - and probably Steele - early on.
