I have think about virus & have speak to young staffer friends who have friends who work at NIH, CDC & the NIAID. Here what is think now: 1) Shut down is never intend for stop most American get the virus eventually. Is ONLY intend for stop most American from get all at same time
2) Virus is expect to infect at least 80% of WORLD population in 18 month, including Americans. Shutdown intend for keep hospitals from fill up all in first 2 month and make more death from virus and also accidents, strokes, heart attacks, flu etc.
Virus WILL still be present in Fall and winter. Is WILL get bad again. Reason the Fauci is no demand shutdown continue is that it better if more people get virus in summer so is be immune (hopefully) by Fall/Winter - a long as hospitals no overrun again.
So, if hospitals remain OK (not overrun) through summer, ease of social distance rules is continue. There still be virus and there still be deaths in summer. Is The Donald hope that enough peoples is get virus in summer that when Election come this Fall...
Is manageable in hospitals because many people have get virus already. In other word, The Donald want economy get going again, but him also want you get virus so you either dead or immune already when election time is come so is no shutdown again and is look bad for election.
Is why The Donald now criticize Governors who no re-open now. The Donald know if they no re-open now, there be many fewer immune peoples there in Fall. Him want peoples there get virus now instead of in Fall.
Nothing that is be done now is intend for stop illness or death. Is intend for spread out the illness and death over summer months so not all begin happen at one time for election.
So...if (when) infection & death rise in coming weeks because the social distance is relax, is actually good news for The Donald as long as remain below level that overwhelm hospitals. Every immune person or dead person that happen at manageable level thru summer be welcome news
