BJP is openly lying that Centre will pay 85% of migrants’ ticket fares.

Rail tickets in India are “subsidized” since railway is a loss-making entity.

BJP is sneakily claiming this loss as as Centre’s 85% share.

So in reality - migrants/state govts will be paying FULL PRICE!
Rail Minister @PiyushGoyal gave 151 crores of public money to PM CARES.

And while the Congress has offered to pay for the rail fare of every migrant worker, the shameless BJP is still twisting facts instead of asking their minister to admit his mistake & make the tickets free.
Here’s the BJP’s National General Secretary admitting openly to this jumlebaazi and the blatant manipulation of facts.

Modi govt is NOT paying a SINGLE penny.

Either states have to pay full fare of migrants’ tickets from their Treasury or transfer the burden on poor workers.

Extending the lockdown while taking 0 mitigating measures testifies to this govt’s cluelessness.

On 17 May, our infrastructure is going to be no different than it was on 17 March.

India’s lockdown is as brutal as China’s. Hungry people don’t take kindly to authoritarianism.
By arbitrarily extending the lockdown, this govt is also squandering away the public support that it’s going to need through rest of the year when things WILL get worse.

This is not merely a 2 month battle - and this govt is *clearly* not thinking about the mid/long-term.
1. What is the rationale behind a 2-week extension?

2. What is the target? Where do we expect to stand at the end of these 2 weeks?

Modi should know he can’t keep extending the lockdown while merely praying that the virus disappears on its own suddenly.

Life isn’t Whatsapp.

After @nsitharaman refused to answer Wayanad MP @RahulGandhi's question on top 50 willful defaulters in the Lok Sabha, I'd filed an RTI asking the same question.

The RBI responded to my RTI with a list of willful defaulters (and the amount owed) as of 30th Sep, 2019.

- This list is NOT new & was published by The Wire earlier. It's shocking that RBI claims they haven't updated it since 30 Sep, 2019.

- RBI also claims that list of overseas borrowers is exempt from disclosure - means they WILL NOT name willful defaulters in tax havens.

PS: The total amount owed by top 50 willful defaulters is Rs. 68,607 crores (US$ 8 billion)

That equals:

- 8 times the amount India has borrowed from the World Bank for fighting Covid-19.

or

- 30% of India’s Covid-19 stimulus package.

or

- 45 crore Covid-19 testing kits.

Filed a complaint with the I&B Ministry against Arnab Goswami for broadcasting content that seeks to promote communal tension. Have also sought an action-taken report within 7 days.

If Goswami is rabid, we MUST be tenacious in ensuring he's neutered no matter who his master is.
Tomorrow, I shall also be filing a complaint with LS Speaker @ombirlakota demanding that Breach of Privilege proceedings be initiated against Goswami for his remarks against Congress President (& Rae Bareilly MP) Smt. Sonia Gandhi.

INC MPs MUST ensure he's dragged to Parliament.
PS: This doesn't end here. Every advertising penny going from the Govt. of India to Republic TV will be scrutinized thru RTIs.

Every official record of interactions between Goswami & Union Ministers will be examined.

Is it a witch-hunt? Sure - call it that because it is.
