Yates deflected.

DOJ has no valid interest in the lies of the White House. Never has and never should. The appropriateness or inappropriateness of a “lie” is an entirely subjective matter. A political issue.

“you don’t want”

Who was she to say?

McGhan was forcing Yates to give rational why this particular lie and conversation was a sufficient criminal matter to justify the actions taken against Flynn.

The answers she gave will be important in the upcoming prosecutions. Why? Because clearly they’re pretextual.
Yates is effectively telling McGahn that as long as you fire Flynn everything will be ok.

An argument that aligns with the new FBI notes that were revealed. They wanted Flynn out of the White House.

But what concern is it of the DOJ who works at the White House?!?
Yates is covering a clearly inappropriate action by DOJ in the idea that she was trying to help a new administration understand what was best for them.

Clearly the truth was she was acting on the interests of people who viewed Flynn as a political threat.
Then McGahn asked Yates to provide, for review, the underlying evidence that was guiding the actions of DOJ/FBI.

All of this was designed to lock the coup plotters in. Make them marry themselves to specific explanations.

This was a counter investigation centered in the WH.
This article was written May 9, 2017 at the height of the Trump Russia collusion investigation. When the plotters in DOJ/FBI and their accomplices in the media still believed they would succeed.

McGahn wasn’t worried if Flynn was being blackmailed because he knew he wasn’t.
The writer wonders why McGahn seemed so focused on what DOJ planned and what they actually knew. He can’t understand why McGahn seemed completely unconcerned about the actual Flynn “offenses”.

At this point it’s not such a mystery.
