UPDATE/CORRECTION: While I did put “possibility” in this thread, on re-reading it comes across as 100% definitive that Stefan Halper was the FBI Confidential Human Source referenced in the FBI’s EC document closing the Flynn case on Jan 4, 2017. That’s not necessarily the case
The supposed suspicious “cab ride” taken by Flynn with a mysterious Russian linked figure hidden under the redactions is almost certainly still the Cambridge Seminar event in Feb, 2014. But, the CHS could be different, and not Halper.
Something that was confusing and pointed out in the original thread was that the IG report contains no reference to any “debriefing” with Halper about Flynn.
And that thread also drew the conclusion that Halper must have lied to the FBI, because he didn’t attend the event in question, and so couldn’t have “witnessed” it. The obvious other possibility is that someone *else* - another CHS - other than Halper was at the Cambridge Event
Were there really *two* FBI CHS’s working out of the Cambridge Seminar? It seems unlikely. But it isn’t impossible that the former head of MI6 Richard Dearlove could even be that CHS. Or the historian of MI5 Christopher Andrew, both with strong links to the intel community
Or maybe it’s someone else. Another attendee. Or even someone on Flynn’s staff. Maybe it’s actually Halper after all. But whoever they are, if you believe @RealSLokhova (and no reason not to), they lied about that event because no such cab ride with Flynn ever happened
Anyway, didn’t want to leave you with the impression that we definitely know who this CHS is. It still needs investigating, because if it’s not Halper, they need to be held to account for being part of the @GenFlynn set up too
