Cherry picked a convenient spot in the timeline. Right after Aurangzeb, Rajputs didn't March into Delhi, instead Mughals were abolishing Rajput states into direct administration before marching into Deccan.
Why? Same reason why Marathas opted to collect taxes for Mughal emperor instead of dethroning him- Nobody wanted to trigger the Ummah of entire Indian subcontinent, without a pan Indian political unity among Hindus. Rajput states of 18th century no longer had the manpower &...
...resources to wage campaigns against the whole Indian subcontinent's ummah. That's enough on power balance. When words of wisdom failed on new Emperor, Rajputs raised their swords against Mughals starting 1708 AD and beat them out of all their garrisons in Rajputana.
One of the clashes was Sambhar 1708 AD where 3/4th of Mughal troops were put to death. After that, Rajputs sent raiding parties toward Rohtak, Delhi and Agra. They established outposts at Rewari and Narnaul.
They exchanged letters with Sikhs fighting Mughals in Punjab (sikh spies were caught with Maharana's letters), with Chhatrasal fighting Mughals in Bundelkhand and with Chatrapati Shahu as well. Obviously to spread resistance in other parts of the country.
For example, following is Jai Singh II's letter to Shahu ji.
Now, why all these efforts to raise others too in rebellion. Because bravado aside, humble fact was that Rajputs didn't have the capacity to overpower Mughals on their own. Actually it required pan India hindu unity to dislodge Islamists from their Imperial status.
Not to forget that Rajputs couldn't again properly unite for most of the times. Partly due to untimely death (1710 AD) of 38 yrs old Maharana Amar Singh who was till now guiding the Rajput resistance. Yeah, we also had our share of bad luck in good guys leaving early.
Just before that death, Mughals had to leave Rajputana signing a treaty in Ajmer whose terms were dictated by Rajputs, with all State governments restored to them and them not having to fight any far flung campaigns for Mughals anymore.
Policies pregnant with centuries of realpolitik don't change overnight. With limited power then, Rajputs were prudent in not punching above their weight, trying to topple Imperial centre. Rajput rulers gradually drifted away from Mughals, wouldn't even attend the Imperial court.
Later it didn't matter much anyway, as there was no clear singular Imperial nucleus to worry about anymore and everyone was getting raided by Marathas.
If this was just an innocent question, you wouldn't be comparing distance from Jaipur vs Pune. Proximity that you talk about is a double edged sword.
