In 1929, Maharaja Hari Singh of Jammu Kashmir and Aksai Tibetha secretly made a visit to Russia and met with Stalin in Moscow. Rather it was a secret visit but still British government got information from their agencies about this secret meet.
It was time when Russian were eventually dominating the whole of the Asian continent and the British Empire was greatly alarmed as they knew any deal between them can uproot their colonial rule in India, so they wanted check on the activities of Russia and Maharaja.
Their suspicion got confirmation when Maharaja Hari Singh advocated for India's freedom in 1930, at the Second Round table conference held at London.
He said: "As Indians are loyal to the land of our birth, we should stand as solidly as rest of our countrymen for own lands enjoyment, a position of honour and equality in the British Commonwealth".
As a sequel to this statement, Britishers worked to have the check on activities of Maharaja. On the basis of Amristar treaty, they tried to pressurise him to post a british resident in state and give some area of Gilgit on lease to them
so that they can keep their eyes on the border of state and Russia. For this a delegate of Brits met Maharaja, but he refused it by saying that there is no such provision according to treaty. Numerous visits were made but nothing happened as Maharaja was denying again and again.
So, finally Britishers used their wicked brain and conspired against Maharaja.
They finally installed some of their agents in state whose task was to develop the communal tensions in state by creating an atmosphere against Dogra Raj.
The state was with Muslim majority and King was hindu, so it was so easy to arise the religious sentiments within people. These agents propagated this message with the help of british funded maulvi, Abdul Kareem (a Pathan from Uttar Pradesh)
who stated in his firing speech that Hindu Maharaja burnt down the Qur'an or his official disrespected their holy book and urged them to stand against Dogra Raj.
After this Muslims of Kashmir became sentimental and revolted against Maharaja. If someone have brain he can think why a king will do such act who have majority of Muslim citizen, about 86% in valley.
This movement become so popular that even in Lahore there was being heard "Kashmir Chalo" slagon.
In 1930 first political party Youngmen's Muslim Association was set up in the State. In the meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah had returned to Srinagar after completing his education at Aligarh.
He joined service as a teacher but soon resigned to throw himself in political activities. Mirza Mohammad Afzal Beg, Ghulam Mohammad Sadiq, Maulana Mohammad Syed Masoodi, and Chaudhary Ghulam Abbas joined him into the struggle against rule of Maharaja.
Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad was appointed as Salar-i-azam of the Organization. Formally the struggle for democratic set up for Government was announced on June 21, 1931, huge procession demonstrated for release of some prisoners and marched to the Central Jail, Srinagar on
July 13, 1931. Police resisted the mob but it became out of control. Magistrate ordered firing resulting in death of 21 persons. Next day the funeral of protestors was taken out and that city was put under army control. Thousands of workers were put behind the bars.
At last a compromise was evolved on August 21, 1931 and the agitation was suspended. All India Kashmir Committee at Lahore took the charge of the situation.
A front for democractic Government in Kashmir was set up under Mr. Iqbal and Mirza Mohmood-ud-Min, Amir Jamait-i-Ahmediya. The Committee rejected compromise and Sheikh Abdullah decided to carry on the agitation.
Thousands of workers were arrested and the Prime Minister Raja Hari Krishna Kaul promulgated Notification L-19 to deal with the situation. After fulfilling some of their demands like assurance of religious freedom and appointment of British I.C.S. as the Prime Minister of Jammu
Kashmir, Maharaja repealed notification L-19 and the prisoners were set
free. Even after this they didn't satisfied. Majalis-i-Ahrar-i-Islam in Punjab on the direction of Brits also decided to support movement in Kashmir and red-volunteers were recruited and sent to Kashmir.
Thirty-five thousand volunteers crossed into Jammu and Kashmir and courted arrest. At last Maharajah approached British Government of India to support him to supress revolt and establish peace in state,
but Brits put an condition that Maharajah have to pay what they will spend for supression, he agreed and then British army entered the State. Numerous arresting were made and law and order was maintained.
But main masterplan now worked, the expenditure shown by britishers to supress revolt was so much that it was even more than annual budget of state. Britishers presented the substitute to those expenses,
it was that some area of Gilgit should be given on lease for 60. Maharaja was made to agree on it and he gave 1,480 sq.mile of area to them which was strip across Russia and china border.
An British army officer have written in his book that Boonji post of Gilgit was on such altitude that the citizens moving in Moscow city can be easily seen from there. Despite of giving this Area to them, maharaja never lost his sovereignty.
As per this agreement, the state flag should be unfurled with British flag and gaurd of honour should be given to Maharaja on every of him.
Spark created by Brits still didn't settled completely, Muslim Cenference emerged in 1932 and a
civil disobedience movement was started in 1932. Consequently a Reform Commission was set up under Mr. Galancy who recommended the creation of Praja Sabha envisaging the election on community basis. There were to be 21 Muslim members and 12 non-Muslims.
Of the 21, Muslim Conference captured 19 seats but the Assembly had no jurisdiction to go into personal expenditure of the Maharaja and army affairs. The Maharaja had the right of making State Laws. In 1939 it proposed to convert the Muslim Conference into secular body.
The new body included personalities like Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Sardar Budh Singh, Mirza Mohd. Afzal Beg, Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad, Ch. Ghulam Mohammad Sadiq. Pandit Jia Lal Kilm, Pandit
Shyamlal Saraf, and Girdhari Lal Dogra, Muslim Conference was converted into all Jammu and
Kashmir National Conference and a demand for a democratic Government was presented.
In 1946 Quit Kashmir agitation was launched and Maharaja was asked to establish democratic government under new party. Indian National Congress also supported this demand and Jawahar Lal Nehru was
arrested at Kohala border. Sheikh Abdullah was sentenced for nine years. In 1947 Mahatma Gandhi visited Jammu Kashmir and advised the Maharaja to surrender infront of conference.
The Prime Minister Mr. R.C. Kak was dismissed and replaced by General Janak Singh and later by Mr. Mehr Chand Mahajan.
In August 1947, British was about to leave India, they too ended the Gilgit agreement as there was no need of it as their rule was already gone and then it directly came under Maharaja, about 15 days before the creation of dominion of India and Pakistan.
In first week of August, Brigader Ganghsara Singh was made governor of Gilgit. The handing over and taking over ceremony was carried out.
Col. Beakon was from britishers and it is firmly written incident by Diwan Narsingh that when dogra flag was unfurled and Britannia flag came down , Col. wept and Gangshara in happiness sang: "Rahe ooncha rhe, rahe duniya mein Jhanda Humara".
20 Gun Salute was given and after function 20,000 rupees were charited among people. When Pakistan was created, The sixth kashmir infantry having Armymen from Mirpur, Bhimber and Rajouri revolted and gilgit scouts helped in it.
They broke their words that they took by witnessing Qur'an during thier recruitment in state army. Sardar Ibhrahim to whom some say Gazhia-e-Millat broke his words and conspiracaly arrested Gangshsra and betrayed. Betrayal of Sardar Ibhrahim,
Qayoom Khan and Col. Hassan khan made the area to hand over to Pak.
Moreover, on 22nd October 1947, tribal raiders from Pakistan made an unabashed attack to capture and grab the State by force. They were advancing towards Srinagar on a massive scale.
Brigadier Rajinder Singh and his 125 soldiers gave a tough resistance to enemy numbering more than 10,000 or so for three days. Due to this brave resistance in which Brig. Rajinder Singh and all his soldiers were martyred Pakistanis were stopped otherwise they would have entered
Srinagar long before the arrival of the Indian Army. Due to betrayal of Pakistan who go against the Stand Still agreement, Maharaja signed the instrument of accession with India on October, 26, 1947 and the first contingent of the Indian army reached by air from Delhi on
October 27, 1947.
Hence we conclude that what happened in Kashmir was not the uprising against Dogra rule, it was British conspiracy in which our people betrayed our Maharaja and their own rule.
The communal tension was common in British India but it was never witnessed in feudal India. Even the princely states of Jammu and Kashmir with Muslim majority and Hindu King, didn't faced any such tension before the arising of demands of democractic government.
In April 1948 the first democratic Government was set up in the State. ln 1951, the absolute rule of Maharaja Hari Singh was terminated by the Assembly and his son, Yuvraj Karan Singh took over as first Sadar-i-Riyasat of the State. Later, he became Governor in 1964.
Maharaja Hari Singh was sent for exile to Bombay in 1951 where he died in 1961. The case is all clear who were against the overall mess in state. It's time to accept the truth.

Long Live the State of Jammu Kashmir and Aksai Tibet Allied.

[Adding: The statement regarding Bunji sector is used metaphorically. Here it means that the place was of strategically importance. Any movement of Russia towards JK can be easily sensed through this post. Moscow was used because it was capital city.]
