NYT: lol it’s totally crazy to say that corporate journalists consciously plot against tech companies

NYT: “we should together confront the forces weakening our industry...Facebook and Google”
archive.is/jXXSv
A literal secret meeting where an editor tells the squabbling unions and publishers they will all make more money by using their “outsize presence on social media” to attack tech companies, their competitors.

There you have it. Open admission of what’s been obvious for years.
The point: every single article by a corporate journalist on tech should have a disclaimer at the top.

This is Coke vs Pepsi. These aren’t neutral commentators.

Doesn’t mean everything they say is false. Does mean tech needs to build its own content and distribution channels.
Imagine the SF Warriors playing the New York Knicks, with the Knicks self-nominating themselves referee.

That’s been the last six years of the “Techlash”.

I get why the Knicks would advocate for this setup. I don’t think it’s in SF’s interest anymore.

Need a new approach.
With that said, the answer can’t be to concentrate more power in Facebook and Google’s hands either. They too are businesses that may be adverse to your interests.

I think the answer looks more like open source than a traditional tech or media company...
