He learned all this in Chad while living at a temporary camp being trained by Americans and Israelis to be pretend rebels to scare Qaddafi. The 700 POW's turned Libyan Contra's never invaded Libya but LNA leader Haftar was fodder for lots for CIA media disinformation campaigns. 
When Chad's Habre rolled his Mercedes on to a waiting cargo plane, Hafters men were liabilities. The Bush Sr presidency had to entice Nigeria, Zaire and Kenya with 5 - 10 m in "military assistance" to hide Haftar. No one bit, so he ended up in NY then VA. foreignpolicy.com/2014/01/24/our…
