This would be a blow to Wisconsin democracy. GOP legislators won fewer votes than Democrats in 2018 & only kept their majorities because of how they drew the districts. A minority-rule GOP legislature gets their judicial allies to undermine the fairly elected Dem governor's power

There are rumors that the Wisconsin Supreme Court's GOP majority could overturn a 1965 precedent to let Republicans pass new gerrymanders without the Dem governor having veto power. I expect them to do it given their recent displays of extreme partisanship dailykos.com/stories/2019/8…
This is why Wisconsin's 2023 Supreme Court election is critical for protecting fair elections. If Dems oust the GOP incumbent up for re-election, they'd gain a 4-3 majority on the court & could strike down GOP gerrymanders later this decade. But that won't stop bad maps for 2022
Meanwhile, the federal courts aren't going to save Wisconsin democracy from Republicans' attempts to gerrymander & voter-suppress their way into power. Justice delayed is justice denied, & that's especially so because we can't undo past election results
