Wisconsin's GOP-gerrymandered legislative majority, which won fewer votes than Dems, is asking their 5-2 WI Supreme Court majority to overturn the Dem governor's order to delay tomorrow's court election until it can be held in a safe manner. GOP suppressing votes to win elections
NEW: Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers (D) orders a delay in Tuesday's presidential primary & competitive Supreme Court election after coronavirus made it impossible to vote in a safe & fair manner, but the GOP is fighting his order in court to block voting access dailykos.com/stories/2020/4…
Republicans nationally are watching what's happening in Wisconsin. If a GOP-gerrymandered legislature can get away with stopping the expansion of mail voting & other measures to suppress votes so they can win key elections like this, they'll keep doing it nationally for November
This is why it's critical that Congress immediately mandate & fund state expansions of mail voting & related measures. Many GOP-run states won't do it on their own, & Dems have leverage over the GOP with a future stimulus bill dailykos.com/story/2020/3/2…
This is the conservative Wisconsin Supreme Court justice who is on the ballot tomorrow. He recused himself from hearing the GOP's lawsuit to stop the election from being postponed despite coronavirus, but that still leaves conservatives with a 4-2 majority
Milwaukee County, by far the most populous in Wisconsin & a Democratic stronghold, has also ordered in-person polls to close. Officials had already slashed the number of polling places from 180 to just 5 thanks to a poll worker shortage amid the pandemic
As expected, Wisconsin's Supreme Court has ruled 4-2 along ideological lines to block the Dem governor from postponing tomorrow's WI Supreme Court election & pres primary. This will lead to thousands of voters being unable to vote due to the pandemic
NEW: Wisconsin's conservative Supreme Court has ruled to stop Dem Gov. Tony Evers from postponing tomorrow's Supreme Court election & presidential primary over coronavirus. This could prevent hundreds of thousands of voters from being able to safely vote dailykos.com/story/2020/4/6…
Milwaukee County had to close 175 of 180 polling places because it couldn't staff & safely operate them. Wisconsin has issued an order to shelter-in-place order & avoid large crowds, but Milwaukee estimated possibly 10,000 voters per polling place. Unconscionable & undemocratic

A GOP gerrymandered legislative majority that won fewer votes than Dems in 2018 got its GOP state Supreme Court majority to ensure that thousands will be unable to safely vote in a key Supreme Court election, the outcome of which may determine the fate of future GOP gerrymanders
This is how Republicans are permanently entrenching themselves in power regardless of how the populace wants to vote. This is how democracies die, & refusing to expand voting access due to the coronavirus pandemic is going to be the GOP's national playbook unless they are stopped
Wisconsin's GOP legislative leaders are liars. They actively fought a Dem proposal to mail a ballot to every voter & are fighting in court to stop the mail ballot return deadline from being extended 6 days even though it could mean preventing hundreds of thousands from voting
