Turned in grades today. Every single student got an “A”. Every one of them earned their grade.
If you’re still working on grades, ask yourself, what grade could these students have gotten in any other term? If the answer is that they might have gotten an “A,” they should get that grade for this term. No student should be punished for struggling amidst a pandemic.
I want to be clear. The students in my classes have worked hard, and they’ve risen to a challenge none of us could have anticipated. None of them are unicorns. We’ve all struggled.
That struggle has not been distributed equally. The students from marginalized populations, the ones who were already struggling, probably struggled more. We each rose to our specific challenges as best we could.
