To all those clueless idiots talking about Saint #Tyagaraja in a derogatory way, get your facts right first. A short thread.

Saint Tyagaraja was fairly well to do in his time. His father Sri Kakarla Rama Brahmam was a great scholar. Gave Upanyasams on the Ramayana.
He was employed in the court of the Maratha ruler. He was initiated into the 'Rama Taraka Mantram' by his gurus.

The king had a great respect for him and when he shifted, he was given six acres of land and a house in the Thirumanjana Veedhi in Thiruvaiyaru.
I won't go into the history of the region now. Yes, there were many horrible invasions and Thanjavur was devastated many times. From Haidar Ali to Nawab of Arcot, and British..nobody spared the place!

There were famines and the beautiful Kaveri river had gone dry.
King Tulaja sent Rama Brahmam to Thiruvaiyaru to distribute land to scholars who were experts in the Varuna Japam. Whenever the rainfall was bad, these scholars had to stand in the dry bed of the river and chant the Varuna Mantrams to invoke the rain god.
Rama Brahmam and his family migrated from Thiruvarur, where Tyagaraja was born to Thiruvaiyaru when Tyagaraja was around five years old.

Tyagaraja had two older brothers by then. Panchanadam and Panchapakesha.

The family was given a home and lands in Thiruvaiyaru.
Rama Brahmam developed a street in Thiruvaiyaru, along the Kaveri where fifteen houses were built for those scholars. That street is called Padhinaindhu Mandapa Theru and it still exists today also.

After migrating to Thiruvaiyaru, we know a lot about Tyagaraja's life.
Tyagaraja was an ardent Rama Bhakta. He wrote almost all his compositions for him.

He performed the pious act of Unchavritti. He would go seeking alms. This wasn't out of poverty. He was already wealthy. This was out of purpose. He would cook what he got and offer it to the lord.
In 'Haridasulu Vedale', he mentions the joy of Unchavritti.

Such a joyful description! He certainly loved this activity!

Does any of that sound like poverty?!
So before opening your mouth and blabbering about Saint Tyagaraja or other such saints, first ask yourself if you are even qualified to!

They did whatever they did, totally immersed in Bhakti. Lived a life of penance and simplicity.

Not peddling cheap political agendas.

Go figure out your sorry lowlife and whatever its worth and know where you stand before commenting on a Saint...
Best what @ranjanigayatri say! Ignore such fools! Avoid giving unworthy people that attention which they are so desperate for! They will do and say hundred other things for it! None of that will take away the greatness of Saint Tyagaraja! ☺️🙏
