Today, I completed the transformative #BASB course, created and tought by the singular @fortelabs.

I am now part of the most intellectually curious, accepting, helpful, and inspirational group of humans on the interwebs.

Just some of the chips of wisdom I picked up:

1/x
“Your [first] brain is for having ideas, not holding them.”

2/x
“Pay attention to what you’re paying attention to.”

3/x
The idea of Task Management vs. Knowledge Management.

4/x
A project without a goal is a HOBBY.

A goal without a project is a DREAM.

5/x
Knowledge management is never done — so you never have to worry about what “done” looks like.

6/x
Creativity is connecting things - especially things that don’t seem to be connected.

7/x
"Your future is the average of the 5 projects you're working on.”

8/x
"grow organically"

"let it flow"

"touch lightly"

"moving more, organizing less”

9/x
“New information should be surprising.

Don’t capture it unless you’re surprised by it.”

The Four Stages of Mastery:

1. Unconscious Incompetence - no system + I know it

2. Conscious Incompetence - broken system + I know it

3. Conscious Competence - working on my system

4. Unconscious Competence - my system is working for me

The Perspective Era

(truly 🤯🤯🤯; this deserves its own thread)

17/x
…and hundreds more nuggets of gold that I’ve mined with hundreds of digital friends over the past 5 weeks.

Seeing @fortelabs overcome with emotion after completing the final lesson made ME emotional, and told me all I needed to know about bending my perspective.

Tiago didn’t do it alone.

“Thank You” barely begins to acknowledge the contributions of the whole team, but specific gratitude goes to @will_mannon who BREATHED LIFE into our live sessions and is inspiring in his own right.

His value simply cannot be captured in a tweet.

19/x
Each guest was worth the price of admission on his/her own, and the value added by @khemaridh @nateliason @mariepoulin @Daniel_onion @homsiT @readwiseio @david_perell was immeasurable

They managed to thread the narrow needle of being additive without being competitive.

20/x
I couldn’t even begin to acknowledge the contributions of my coursemates, but know that I’ve begun following many of you, I’ve jotted many of your words, and have been lifted out of the Dark Swamp Of Despair time and again by your stories.

Follow every single account mentioned above.

Read what they write. Explore their networks.

Start unlocking the true magic of @Twitter.

And see you in September for Cohort 11 (yes, I’m taking the course again).

Gratitude 🙏🏼
