Their fatality rate per million inhabitants is between 3 and 7 times higher than other Scandinavian countries. [2/7]
Apparently 50% of deaths are from older people in residences, putting to rest the conceptual theory (had never been tested until now) that you can isolate these ppl from a herd that is getting widely infected. [3/7]
Their number of cases is still growing, but much more slowly, yet they didn't order a lockdown. Do you know why? [4/7]
Many ppl decided to stay home nevertheless. Mobility is just slightly higher than in other Scandinavian countries. All those deaths (& probably more uncounted, & maybe many ppl with chronic conditions) for a reduction of mobility of 18% vs. 28% [5/7]
Markets definitely don't think this was a good business strategy either. The Swedish main index is underperforming those of both Norway and Denmark, and close to Finland's. [6/7]
Thanks to Sweden's test, we now have more data to indicate that, at least in Western countries, a herd immunity strategy might be bad for both health and business. [7/7]
