Thought experiment: imagine the death toll was just 10% of that: 3,000 dead (rounded down).

If those 3,000 had died under a *Labour* government, which would come first: tabloid forgiveness, or the heat death of the Universe?
Ties into the whole "scandal" about the BBC Panorama PPE special: because the medical staff interviewed supported Labour, the fact that they *didn't have PPE* was totally irrelevant. Only Tories get to complain about inadequate protection. Everyone else is just being political.
Imagine applying the same logic to other contexts...

"999 - what's your emergency?"
"I'd like to report an armed robbery in progress."
"Before taking the details, I must ask: do you support Labour?"
"Er, yes."
