“American Exceptionalism”
This chart shows the difference between countries that restructured their economies to enact a medical plan to defeat the virus, and a country that instead enacted a propaganda plan to defeat all expectation of defeating the virus if it required any restructuring of economy.
Look at that gap between us and those other countries.

You know what that gap is?

The cost of our leaders' priorities.
You know what that gap is?

The cost of prioritizing property rights over human lives, which we do

The cost of prioritizing unsustainable white supremacist power structures over universal public good

The cost of American exceptionalism

It's the price tag for our expensive lies
Why don't you find a narrative that contends with the fact that even though we're still understesting and some states may be obfuscating death counts, we have 4% of the world's population, over 30% of the cases and 25% of the deaths?
Yes data can be misleading but just take the raw numbers and it's a pretty stark picture, especially given our wealth and resources.

Any interpretation that minimizes just how exceptionally bad our Covid response has been possess enough spin to power an arc reactor.
"You are misleading if you don't look at the per capita deaths" says the guy who then claims we've done the most testing by far and doesn't cite the per capita testing figure.

4% of the global population
25% of the global deaths

Explain those numbers.

While data literacy is important, these feel like quibbles designed to obfuscate the point, which is that our exceptionalism is driving exceptionally bad results—specifically because the response isn't designed to prevent the spread of pandemic, but the expectation of a solution.
We have a federal government whose response to a global pandemic is indifferent—observably so—to health metrics.

That's your problem.

Results:

4% global population
25% global deaths

Don't like the graph that illustrated it? OK. Interesting focus, but OK.

Address 4% / 25%
We see here a spirit utterly indifferent to human life, utterly captured with the canard that the economy we'd sacrifice millions of lives to would weather the sacrifice of millions of lives.

Or that such an economy is worth saving

And we see the results

4% / 25%

And growing
