After weeks of shutdowns, these 30 states have started to reopen, or are planning to reopen their economies soon nyti.ms/3bhsGNA
Of the states that are reopening or plan to do so soon, at least 21 do not meet criteria set by the Trump administration because they have more new cases or a higher percentage of positive tests than 2 weeks ago nyti.ms/3bhsGNA
The White House says states should have a “downward trajectory” of cases over a 14-day period before they begin to reopen. But 18 of the states reopening have actually had an increase of daily average cases in the past 2 weeks. nyti.ms/3bhsGNA
For states that have not had a decrease in cases, the White House says they can still reopen if the percentage of coronavirus tests that come back positive is lower than it was 14 days ago. These 9 states have a higher average share of positive test results.
