Trump's latest move was to replace the HHS inspector general late last week. Christi Grimm, the HHS IG, had last month issued a report on widespread shortages in testing supplies and PPE. nytimes.com/2020/05/01/us/…
Grimm, of course, isn’t the first inspector general Trump has removed. We filed a FOIA request for Justice Department legal analyses regarding the president's authority to dismiss inspectors general — including what constitutes sufficient justification. americanoversight.org/document/foia-…

NEW DOCUMENTS: We obtained emails showing a top political appointee at the Small Business Administration sharing employees’ resumes with the White House official leading Trump’s loyalty purge.

Personnel office head John McEntee reportedly held a Feb. 20 meeting in which he asked cabinet agency White House liaisons to identify political appointees and career officials they thought were anti-Trump.
We FOIA’d for liaisons’ communications with McEntee, and we received records from the Small Business Administration showing SBA Senior Adviser and White House Liaison Christopher Gray sending two officials’ resumes to McEntee on Feb. 28.

In January 2019, during a mumps outbreak in migrant detention facilities, 39 doses of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine went bad when a refrigerator failed, according to Texas Dept of State Health Services documents we obtained.

A Texas DSHS regional medical director asked “Are there any requirements by ICE for generators/automatic temperature keeping/alarm systems in order to minimize loss of medications that require to be kept at cold temperatures?”
The refrigerator was located at the ICE-operated El Valle Detention Facility in Raymondville, Texas.

NEW LAWSUIT: We’re suing the Dept of Homeland Security, ICE, and the Bureau of Prisons for records related to COVID-19 to determine what, if anything, they are doing to protect vulnerable populations in prisons and detention centers.

In March, we submitted #FOIA requests to the agencies and sought the release of directives, risk assessments, and other documents containing key terms related to the coronavirus and vulnerable populations.

Despite the expanding health crisis in our nation’s detention facilities, the agencies failed to adequately respond to requests within the legally mandated 20 business days, so we’re suing to make these documents public.
