There's an old Soviet joke along these lines that my Russia colleagues like @20committee and @MollyMcKew and @TheRickWilson might remember. I'll tell it because we all need a laugh right now. /1
A Soviet general is getting a briefing on the Far East front with China. He's seeing the disposition of a ragtag collection of Soviet forces against millions of Chinese troops. "We would lose this war if we have to fight this many of these Chinese hordes!" he exclaims. /2
The briefer tries to calm the General down. "Comrade General, numbers are not everything. Quality and resourcefulness are more important! Think of the Middle East, where only a few million Jews in Israel have managed to hold off 200 million Arabs, multiple times!"

The Soviet general thinks for a moment, staring at the map, and then nods. "Yes," he says, "that's a very good point." Then he pauses and looks worried again, and turns to the briefer.
"But do we have enough Jews?"
